I think that was the title of my 4th of July post last year too. Steve and I say that a lot in our house, 'Go America' in random conversation. Whether we see a redneck with a mullet out and about, talking about politics or world wars (because we have those conversations often), I don't know, it just comes up a lot, OK?
We started out the morning by going to our church's breakfast, checked out all the peeps decked out in their America attire and played with the kiddos.
These are our friends' boys, Ethan and Carsten, all about 2 months within each other. They are so adorable and highly entertaining to watch when they get together. They just look at each other and touch each other and smile at each other!
Made some cake pops without the stick. Yes, they're ugly but they tasted awesome. Go 'Merica.
That afternoon we met our friends out at our pool for a little dinner and swimming.
Love his belly rolls, nom nom nom
My Aunt Julie gave me these swim trunks last year when Parker was born (they're size 12 months) and I remember thinking there was no way he'd ever fit into them. So crazy!
Most of the optometry wives out here, we're still missing a few.
Thank you girls for being my family away from family. You're the best!
We WILL do the chocolate cake night soon!!!
P$ was loving some Addi time. I teach her in primary, love her!
After swimming we went back inside, got P a little nap and then headed out to Crescent Bay in Laguna Beach for the fireworks. We found the spot suggested to us by our friends Angie and Neal, walked up and were so stoked! I've always wanted to do fireworks at the beach on the 4th so we were super pumped! Parking was a breeze and it wasn't crowded at all. It was a residential area so I don't think many people knew about it. This was one of the views, the pictures below were the other side of the lookout. Behind these lookouts was this big grassy area we were camped at. The only bummer was that it was pretty foggy/cloudy, otherwise the sunset (and pictures) would have been amazing.
P was doing pretty well until the fireworks started. He was getting fussy and we think he was scared of all the popping noises from the fireworks! You know how you can just tell when your kid is fussy or legitimately scared or sad...poor thing! So I walked around with him up in the gorgeous beachfront housing neighborhoods and I could see 3 different fireworks shows...plus the 3 that were going on over the ocean. We will DEFINITELY be going back next year! I was bummed though because I had set up my tripod and camera and was planning on getting some awesome fireworks shots, but sometimes the kid wins, right? If you're reading this Parker, you owe me a fireworks show!!!
'Winning!'
Happy Independence Day America, we are such a blessed nation!
GO 'Merica! Love it! Next year (if we are here) will have to hit up that spot with you.. looks nice!
