Lyla and Co.

After delivery, Lyla's apgar score was slightly lower than normal, so they helped her with her breathing for a bit while my doctor stitched me up. She pinked right up, then they brought her over to me. After getting cleaned up, fed some crackers, and informed by the tech that Oasis has a song called 'Lyla', listening to it, and loving it, we went upstairs to our room. After getting settled, we were left alone to giggle with our new babe and process what really just happened: it was a bit surreal the moment had finally arrived and we finally had her in our hands. We couldn't believe how still and little and content she was. The opposite of our 2 1/2 year-old at home, and the opposite of anything we'd experienced in our lives as of late. She was a brief calm to the crazy whirlwind that our lives have been lately.
I had only slept three hours the night before I went into labor, and it was now 4 am the next morning, so we let them take her to the nursery while we tried to get some sleep. I don't think I slept much at all, but Steve did. When they woke me up and brought in my breakfast that morning, I started to eat (I was famished), but then started tearing up because I wanted my baby with me...so I called and had them bring her in to cuddle. Steve woke up a little while later and got some quality daddy-daughter time.

Then a total surprise walked in through the door...
I didn't think my mom was going to be able to come, but they got flights last minute and popped in for a couple days until they had to leave to go back to Texas to help my sister who had her twins almost exactly (to the minute) four days later. It was a wonderful surprise and I'm so glad they were here!

Steve's parents had been watching Parker, so they brought him in that evening to meet his baby sister. He showed a little interest, but after the initial meeting she proved to be too boring; pushing her bassinet around the room and crashing it into everything was way more exciting.
Although they did play cars together for a second or two.
Steve's parents...thank you Ann and Jim for all of your help with Parker.
Again, with the cars. It's true love if he shares his cars with you.
My amazing doctor, Melanie. Love her. I couldn't have done it with one, Steve, he was amazing, and two, my doctor. She was so encouraging, so helpful, and seriously such a blessing.

The next night Steve went home to get some real sleep while the girls stayed at the hospital. That day was filled with tests and paperwork, visitors, and hanging out until we went home that evening.

All with a stop at Red Robin on the way...
