go 'merica.

We had all sorts of plans to go to the church breakfast, go to this recommended secluded, amazing beach in Laguna, then watch fireworks from last year's viewpoint, Crescent Bay Park, but Parker had other plans. He woke up in the middle of the night for no apparent reason, other than to play. After quite a bit of coaxing, we all got to crawl back into bed and sent Steve in our place for the breakfast. Naptime came and went, so we nixed the beach and joined our friends at our pool for some sun and burgers. It's our last holiday get-together with our neighbors here, and it was a little bittersweet. These peeps have been our family for the last 3 years (with a lot of the ones from the beginning already having moved on). We did end up with our original fireworks-watching plans and headed down to Laguna where Parker did just fine and loved every minute of the 'booms' in the sky (luckily the opposite reaction from last year). He was making a high-pitched buzzing noise dotted with an explosion at the end for the next couple of days. He kept saying 'touch it!'
Happy Birthday, America. We love you so.
