Steve sold my bike last week. I've been struggling with this decision for the past two years. The reality of not biking anymore has become more and more real recently, and with our upcoming moves, it only felt like the right decision {insert heavy sigh here}. I finally had Steve post it, then the next day somebody came and bought it while I was at work. Steve texted me to break the news, and my heart just sunk. I made him give me the details as to who bought it, why they bought it, what they said. No one was good enough. Wah! A couple days later, I was driving to my friend's house who lives closer to some foothills, adjacent to one of the biking trails that loops around here (Fullerton Loop). The sun was setting, a time when I went biking the most...and a group of 4-5 bikers came rushing down the hill. Tears came to my eyes, and I was just sooo sad! Unfortunately that time is on hold in my life right now, and FINE. I will accept it. I suppose....here's to a heckofalotta amazing memories.
On to the reason I've had to sell my bike, this little guy. Lately one of his favorite things is to come up to our phones and excitedly say 'Pah-kuh!'. He wants us to pull the camera up on reverse so he can see himself. He was giggling watching himself open and close his mouth.
My sweet husband turned 28! He didn't want to spend any money on anything except dinner, so we went to Maggiano's and went straight home. Makes my job easy! I couldn't resist, and found a demolition derby coming to the Orange County Fair in August that we will be attending....not sure if we're going to get dressed up like we did a couple years ago, but I'm certainly game for some tattoos, cut-off shorts, trucker hats, and blacked-out teeth! That was seriously one of the best nights of our life!
Have you ever browned your butter in your chocolate chip cookie recipe? It's insane. You should try it. He calls all baked goods 'cake'. Parker looooves him some cake.
Had a 'blog meeting' where we ordered Thai, didn't cook or photograph any food, and talked about pregnancy and The Bachelorette. And yeah, talked about the blog a bit...
Because we wanted it. Also called it 'cake'. Basically, right? These tires seriously follow us everywhere. I'll let him take them out to the car with us as we drive places, but I don't let him bring them into stores or anything. Usually.
Found a roly poly on one of our daily 3 walks a day. "Cooh!"
I got called off from work, so Parker and I actually got to see and hang out with Daddy! So exciting! Steve had a new schedule with his new quarter, he's gone first thing in the morning, and until anywhere between 6-10pm. Booo. Parker was used to seeing him everyday, and that wasn't happening anymore. Then the combination of post-travel adjustment that usually happens, last week was tough. I have a feeling he's embracing his almost 2-year-old self as well...
We went to get sno cones and checked out The Fullerton Arboretum that we've heard so much about. I have to say, we were both pretty disappointed. It was mostly dirt, trees, and cacti. At least it was free!
Sad I missed the shot of these two pushing their trucks with their bums in the air, bumcracks peeking out of their shorts. Parker loves 'Eh-yut' (Elliot).
These days Parker knows about half of the letters in the alphabet--not in order, but he points out letters everywhere we go. He's still super clumsy, so when he falls, he says 'be cay-ful!'. When he does something cool, like roll a tire down something he either says 'coo!' or ' kay-see!' (crazy!) or 'funny!'. When he wants to be picked up, it's 'hode you' (hold you). If he drops something, he says 'dop ooh' (drop it). He likes to get up into my face, slowly waddle himself around so his bum is in my face, sit himself down in my lap and say 'lap!'. He usually has a book in his hand and wants me to read to him. He's talking and understanding more and more, it's been so much fun being a part of it, and seeing him absorb everything. He's such a happy little guy, loves to play 'get choo!' (chase, or 'get you!') and his giggle is absolutely infectious. I love that kid more than I ever could have imagined. He tries my patience daily, but it is so worth it, and he makes me a better person.
