My Baby's First Haircut

Yep, I chopped off all of his beautiful curls.
Noooooo, I didn't. Why would I do such a thing.
I did trim the front though, those whispies were hanging in his eyes. More on that later.
This was a couple of weeks ago, that is not a cigar nor is it a freaky-baby-tongue. It's a fiddlestick, a baby cracker thing he likes to chow down on. We love us some pool time! I've started dunking him every time we go, he doesn't mind one bit!
Steve's Reef sandals he's had for years and years finally broke, so we headed down to San Clemente and got the whole fam some Rainbows! I returned mine for another pair, so I haven't broken mine in yet, but Steve loves his already. And I'm dying over Parker's feet in some flip flops.
Before Steve started his new schedule full-fledged we went to our favorite place, Newport Beach last week. Every time we go, we both get SO incredibly happy that we chose to go to school here and live the dream for 3 1/2 years! Best decision ever.
We brought our pack-and-play, which was my genius idea. No sarcasm here! We laid the little guy down with a bottle and his blankie, covered the whole shebang with a bigger blanket, and I'm not actually sure if he slept or not, but he definitely laid there mostly quiet sucking on his fingers and intermittently talking to himself for at least an hour! This meant an hour of baby-free zoning out on the beach. Pure bliss. Sometimes all he needs is to chill out by himself and have a little Parker time and he's good as new! We will definitely be taking this again. We've also looked into those beach pop-up tents for naptime, any thoughts on those??
Steve and I died of laughter every time we looked at this picture that night. I still giggle! He was loving the waves creeping in on him, but then this one took us all by surprise.
Don't worry, no babies were harmed during the filming process.
He mostly played in the sand, tried to eat it a couple times, army-crawled his way to the waves with momma chasing after him, played with the seagulls, and ate to his heart's content.
Did I mention we love the beach?
After Newport we went over to Balboa Island (after stopping in at a Chase and answering some questions on our identity to grab some cash because someone forgot his wallet. Kind-of scary that we were able to walk in there, answer some basic questions and walk out with some cash?) to try out the frozen bananas (meh. not a fan) and doughnuts at Dad's Doughnuts. Still need to go back for the famous Balboa Bars. We also found this AMAZING mexican joint, super cheap and super-party-in-your-mouth. Parker approved it too...notice the beans all up in his grill.
We strolled around after dinner and looked at all the charming multi-million dollar houses. I think it would be such a blast to vacay here for a week.
Back to reality. Parker and I love coming home from church so we can pig out and take naps. It's one of our favoritest things to do. When he gets tired, he rests his head to the side and just stares with this grotesquely blank look on his face. If I turn around or look in my mirror and smile at him, he gives me this tired little smile back. I just love him.
Wrastling on the floor, playing games. This day we played the game 'who can get mommy's phone first and throw it the furthest, army-craw after it, get it, then throw it again. Repeat.'. Daddy gets mad a Mommy when Mommy lets him play that game...it's OK, Daddy was at class. That's what he gets for being gone all of the time.
We (I) were (was) watching So You Think You Can Dance and saw some guy do some crazy move, so naturally Steve tried to figure out how the heck he did it. Epic fail, sorry love.
New game of the day, 'putt the glasses on mommy's face'. It's crazy to see he actually understands these little 'games'. I would put the glasses on his face, then he'd throw them in mine, then he'd sit there and kinda stick his head out and brace his eyes for me to put them on his face. He's growing up so fast!
(OK, not incredibly fast, he's a little behind in everything, but still fast for me :)
Another game! I think this game is self-explanatory.

Farmer's Market. I have some strawberries and peaches begging to be made into jam...

Dun-dun-dun-duuuuunnnnnnn.....
Scissors.
Baby hair.
They do NOT go together like PB&J.
His bangs are the only thing that needed a trim, they're so straight and were going right into his eyes half of the time, so we finally decided to do it. We stripped him down, plopped him in his bumbo, and tried like crazy to get him to keep his head still and stay distracted.
That, my friends, is silly nonsense.
There were definitely some snippity snips that were unintentional because the crazy kid wouldn't keep his head still, but it looks OK...kind-of like a girl, but in the end, LHDC, right?

Tonight we went to the school's welcome back BBQ, realized this will be our last one! It was sad reminiscing on this day last year (Parker was a couple weeks old, and I was trying to figure him and this mommy thing out! I remember the day so clearly, he was screaming screaming screaming 20 minutes before it was time to go, and Steve and I couldn't figure him out. I needed to get ready but he wouldn't let me put him down, I wanted to cry. I wasn't used to someone coming before me 24/7! I had fed him, just changed him and re-checked the pee-line on his diaper, burped him, swaddled him, etc etc etc. Finally checked his bum, and he had just pooped. Oh the newborn stage is a difficult one) and then our first year in Cali the year before that. Steve was on crutches then. Ha!
Crew took the motherly role and was helping P eat. Such a good little buddy!
Notice he's standing? He's been pulling himself up like crazy on things! On couches, his crib, the coffee table, while on the changing table, on me. in his stroller. His right leg sometimes lags behind a bit when we walk with him or if he's pulling up on something, but he's definitely getting there!
Eating can be tricky, I have to sing to him sometimes or bang on the tray to get him to eat. As soon as I start singing, he starts bouncing up and down to the 'music', it's so cute. These days he's eating PB&J sandwiches, refried beans, bananas, he's stopped liking fruit on most days, some days he'll do corn and peas, oatmeal, still some baby food, couscous, quinoa, and of course loves bites of whatever we're eating.
Today, this worked to get him to eat.
Whatever works!
