Last month some friends and I got to support our friend Angie and her husband, Neal, in Orange County's "A Walk To Remember". Such an amazing experience.
Angie and Neal lost their little baby boy Jaden 2 years ago and since then have been able to participate in this walk each year. The 5k raises money for local NICUs and is a sweet support for parents and families of those who have lost sweet little ones through miscarriage, stillbirth or babies who only lived a short time. I was rather shocked at the number of babies unable to live their full lives on this earth (one mother had 6 miscarriages). It was quite the emotional experience and I think it opened the eyes of all of us girls. I can't imagine going through an experience like that.
Steve and I feel like we have been blessed way beyond what we deserve.
They played a slideshow of all the little ones, this was their little Jaden.
Each year on his birthday they deliver receiving blankets that were donated to them to local hospitals.
You can read about their annual project here, Calling All Angels. Make sure you check out the link to the hardbound book they had made, it shares their story.
Angie and Neal, thank you for letting us be apart of your day and sharing your story with us! You two have been through more than most people I know and are the sweetest examples. I'm sure there have been dark periods, but you have been nothing but friendly, loving, supportive, blah blah blah I'll stop, I'm sure I'm embarrassing you :) Miss you Angie!!!
P.S. The altos really miss you and Shonnee! Like, srsly...

sounds like a wonderful cause to support. We just had a couple in our ward that delivered at 22 weeks (incompetent cervix) their little guy was able to hold on for almost 8 weeks, he just passed away on Sat. There are a lot of little miracles some only stay for a short time and some just take a long time getting here :)
ReplyDeleteSteph! You are so sweet! Thank you for giving a shout out to Calling All Angels but even more so for always being sensitive, supportive, and kind to us. We feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends, I miss you all SO MUCH! I'm dying of boredom here!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all... Umm did you even have a baby?! Cuz your body is amazing!
ReplyDeleteSecond of all... I can't wait to see you in less than a week.
Third of all.... what a great thing you participated in!
