Sustained?

So I had an appointment with my OB this morning. Her partner showed up instead because she was busy.
She barely spoke English and wasn't listening to anything I was saying! I was telling her about some weird symptoms I was having and was talking to me like I was a 5-year old. Lady! I probably know more medically than your little helpers at your office, don't talk to me like I'm stupid!

me: "So I've been having these spells where about an hour after I eat breakfast,
I feel my heart pounding and it's anywhere from 100-110, I get really hot, short of breath,
feel like I need to get out and get some air and walk around, it usually lasts about an hour."
weird lady doctor: "That's actually quite normal to feel palpitations, hot flashes,
blah blah blah blah blah...as long as it's not sustained"
me: "And sustained being...."
weird lady doctor: "Meaning lasts a long time."
UMMMMM REALLY??!? You think I don't know what "sustained" means?! OBVIOUSLY I'm asking what you think sustained is, because I told you it lasts about an hour, and last time I checked, an hour is pretty sustained.
TWO, last time I checked, a sustained heart rate of 100-110 is not palpitations!!!

Don't worry, the rest of the appointment went this way as well--She told me I may start to feel occasional contractions later that are longer than 15 minutes apart and not that strong. But if I start to feel them stronger, shorter than 15 minutes apart, notice bleeding or water leaking, go to the ER blah blah blah.
me: "So I may start to feel contractions that are longer than 15 minutes apart? When would this happen?
weird lady doctor: "Well you may start to feel occasional contractions later that are longer than 15 minutes apart and not that strong. But if you start to feel them stronger, shorter than 15 minutes apart, notice bleeding or water leaking, go to the ER immediately, don't come here."
me: Ohhhhkay. Nevermind.

She is not allowed to deliver my baby.
I'm just sayin...

  2. During my pregnancy I had a few episodes where my heart reate would get up to 200 and I would almost pass out. I had to be put on a heart monitor but they didn't figure anything out. Talk to your actualy OB for sure! So frustrating. Sorry!
