July 17, 2011

Me the last few months:
nauseous
throwing up (only once or twice luckily)
exhausted
no desire to cook or eat or look at most foods
no energy
and a whole bunch of other symptoms that would probably gross you out
so, basically......a big fat lame-o
Why you ask?!?!?!?!
Because this little booger has taken over!
Our friend has nicknamed it SJ for us (Steve/Steph Jr.).
We like it. SJ for now it is!
We are BEYOND thrilled, and yes this was planned haha. Everyone seems to be in shock--I guess everybody had the idea that we didn't want kids until we were 40....I'm 26 people! I'm already old!

This was the picture on our card that we sent out to our family and some friends to announce the big news, taken by our awesome photog friend Geri. We swore Geri and her husby to secrecy!

First belly shot at 10 weeks (2 weeks ago).
Thought I'd get one right as I was starting to notice a little extra lovin around those love handles.
I'm 12 weeks along now, we've heard the heartbeat, seen little SJ and I'm definitely seeing a little pooch now. This is really happening.

OK now for story time! Back in the beginning of November, Steve dropped me off at work because he needed the car that day. As breakfast time came along, I was getting hungry and nauseous at the same time. BAM! First clue. I kinda wondered if something was growing inside of me. I eat, feel fine, move on. Then, lunch time comes. I get famished and nauseous again. BAM  BAM! Clue #2. I'm totally feeling it. I'm definitely carrying something. We were planning on going to the Newport Beach temple after he picked me up, so he picks me up and I run into Walgreens (because we're classy like that) to buy a prego test and change into my dress clothes. I do the deed, set the stick down and start changing. As I'm changing I'm peeking over looking at the test, nothing yet. AH HURRY UP DANG TEST!!! I finish changing, peek over, and I DEFINITELY see a super faint positive. Ummmm.....
I run outside to the car and Steve sees me grinning. He mouths from the car "No way". I get in the car and we examine the test, read the directions 8 times and clarify that yes, indeed a faint positive is positive. We don't believe it. Life just got really interesting. It seems so surreal, like we're almost nervous about being excited. Since when does a little stick have the ability to make your dreams come true?! It's a stick!!! But it did, it has changed our lives and we're so excited to see what happens next. We eat instead of temple, I'm exhausted, come home and pass out on the couch. I wake up feeling awful, go to the bathroom and look at myself in the mirror and realize for the first time that my body will be completely out of my control for the next 9 months. We're excited for the journey!

  10. Oh congrats!!! That is so so super exciting. And as far as your body goes... just give in. This is the only time in your life you have the excuse to be fat. Enjoy rather than despise it:) You've earned it! Congrats again.

  11. Yeah for you guys. It is really funny how fast a little something can change your life. I love how you say you have a belly bump though, because I'm not seeing ANYTHING. I know how you feel, having been through it though. You'll be the one to notice first. I haven't been sick with my pregnancies but hear it goes away soon if it hasn't already.
