23rd Annual Mountain 'Bout and some Neosporin

This morning we biked the 23rd Annual Mountain 'Bout up at Snowbird Ski Resort. It was 9 miles, 18oo vertical feet of climb, and HOLIE MOLIE we did it and we're done!!! All day yesterday at work, my stomach was in knots, I felt like I wanted to hurl a few times, and the drive up to Snowbird this morning was pretty quiet. Last night we carb loaded at Gloria's (we told them about our race and they brought this huge basket of bread--we tipped well) and went to bed early. Our first race was HARD but it feels FABULOUS to be done! Steve said he couldn't have gone any faster during the last 1 1/2 miles. About that same time, I had to start trash-talking the other girls in my head to stay ahead of them. It worked for both of us :)

7:30am, before we knew what we were getting ourselves into
note our carefree, fresh, nonchalant mood.....HA!!!
During.....

after I totally over-the-handlebars faceplanted on a loose downhill part. Literally.
The imprint of my nose, chin, and sternum is still probably there in the dirt.
Steve got 3rd place in his division and the 1st place guy only beat him by 3 minutes!!!
Yeah that's my sexy husband mmmhmm!
And I got 1st place in my division! Woot-woot! Nobody knew where the 2nd place girl went. And yes, the 3rd place girl looks 12-years-old but she's been racing for years!
This was my first :) She was NOT happy I placed--I told her Congratulations as we stepped off the podium and she said "yeah you too" in a way that I'm positive that if she had had a voo-doo doll of me, she would have been slicing my legs off with a rusty scalpel. True statement.
Go Team Anderson.
