Dear Moab,
I love you.
You make me happy.
My heart melts when I am around you.
♥ , me
Steve and I got back from one of our favorite playgrounds a few days ago, and can I just say how much I'm in love?!?! Let me start from the beginning. Steve and I met in Moab exactly one year ago last week. Clarification: I was giving some first aid to a fellow Moabite during the annual Massive Moab Trip where a group of 100s of friends go to Moab for biking, climbing, jeeping, etc. Apparently, Steve was watching my mad nursing skills and said something to me, but I failed to respond. He, feeling shot down and rejected, and myself, oblivious to the sad attempt, continued to flirt with everyone and anyone else around us hehehe....Three months later he pops the question on Delicate Arch in Moab and six months later we're hitched.
Needless to say, we heart Moab :)
We pull into Moab and head straight to Slickrock, one of the hardest trail in Moab....it's kinda
like the Ivan Drago (that huge Russian meathead) that Rocky conquers in the Rocky movies. It
was all steep climbs and downhills, dropoffs and jumps, and amazing views and company. I was
nervous about...well...falling off a cliff and dying to put it bluntly, but I just talked myself
through it and did great!
Steve had done it several times and was so patient
with me in my ummm occasional frustrations. I
love you baby!!! Couldn't have done it without
you!!! He rocked the trail more than I did, only
had to walk his bike up the last few feet of 2
ridiculous hills. This is me making it up a hill
after several of Steve's coaching attempts :)
To sum it up, there was blood, there was tears,
my chain broke 3 miles from the end (luckily
a fellow biker was sent from above with a chain
tool so we could fix it), then it rains on us the last
3 miles. BUT, we survived and this was our view:
UH-MAZ-ING.
The rest of the trip we spent climbing,
jeeping, biking more trails, hiking,
bon-firing, s'moring, rocking out to
Guns'n'Roses, Journey, and Chicago,
barbecuing, ultimate frisbeeing,
napping at the park...yup. Love life.
And of course, you can't forget our matching sweatbands every day :)
I heart Moab as well. Next time you go...I wanna come:) The slickrock trail is the coolest biking there is, but it is hard. There are some super intense parts. I loved it though.
